What we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The National Council for Private School Accreditation ("NCPSA," "we," "us," or "our") is a Washington nonprofit corporation recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. NCPSA recognizes and provides oversight of private school accrediting associations. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
National Council for Private School AccreditationThis policy applies to ncpsa.org and to the NCPSA Member Portal, which member associations use to submit annual reports and related documents. It doesn't apply to the websites of our member associations, our preferred partners, or any other third party we link to. Those organizations have their own privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
We collect information when you choose to send it to us. That happens in a few places:
Like most websites, ncpsa.org keeps standard server logs through our hosting provider. Those logs may include your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and the date and time of each request. We use them to keep the site secure and running, and to understand which pages are used. We don't run advertising trackers or third-party analytics on ncpsa.org, and the videos on the site are served from our own hosting rather than from a video platform.
ncpsa.org doesn't set cookies of its own. Two parts of our online presence do use cookies for a functional reason:
You can set your browser to refuse cookies, though the verification form and the Member Portal may not function without them.
We use the information described above to:
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own advertising or marketing.
We share personal information only in the following circumstances:
NCPSA regularly answers verification requests from state departments of education, federal agencies, and other public bodies. We keep a record of those requests and our responses as part of our accreditation records, and we may refer to them when the same agency or the same accrediting body comes up again.
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, and afterward as our records practices and the law require. Verification correspondence and Member Portal submissions are part of NCPSA's accreditation records and are kept for the life of those records.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we hold. Traffic to ncpsa.org and the Member Portal is encrypted in transit, portal passwords are stored only in hashed form, and access to portal data is limited to the association it belongs to and to NCPSA staff. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, subject to the records we're required to keep. Depending on where you live, you may also have additional rights under applicable privacy law. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We'll need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we'll respond within the time the law allows.
We don't send marketing email. Any email you receive from NCPSA relates to a request you made, your membership, or an event you registered for.
This website is intended for adults working in education, government, and accreditation. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we'll delete it.
This site links to the websites of our member associations, our preferred partners, and other organizations. We aren't responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the revised version on this page and change the effective date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
